Tourism Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane has called on South Africans to use tourism to boost the economy as well as creating jobs.
Kubayi-Ngubane was speaking on the sidelines of the World Tourism day celebrations currently underway at the Nelson Mandela capture site in Howick, in the provinces midlands.
World Tourism Day is an initiative of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation that has been adopted by South Africa and focuses on the importance of tourism to the local economy.
She says they choose to use this site as this month also commemorate heritage and Tourism month.
Kubayi-Ngubane says everyone should be a tourist in their own areas.
